THANKS MOM!

Dear Mama,

Having a mother like you while growing up was the greatest gift and biggest advantage anyone could have given me. It is because of the confidence and values that you planted in me that made me who I am today.

I have to thank you daily for all you have done in my life. No amount of thanks can compensate or equal the cares, worries, love and resources you expended on me. This is why it has been difficult to write this letter in the first place.

Ma, I realize that I have driven a space between us with my behavior and I want to mend the gap and start fresh with you. I value you and all the sacrifices you've made for me throughout my life. However, it has been more important for me to stand up on my own and make mistakes. My main goal is to become an adult who is able and brave enough to support herself in the way you had, I know now how much pain that has caused you. I should’ve listened because I know that, from your perspective, you could see ahead of time how my actions would not yield good results, but sometimes I have to make those mistakes on my own in order to grow. Despite my foolishness, I hope you can forgive me and still help me to accomplish my goals.

As I gradually became teen you assumed the position of an adviser and a guard. You made sure I never get lost from set rules and goals. You see to it that things were done properly. You gave me a bearing. You taught me to aspire to the top and never to be intimidated. You gave me the spirit to fight for my rights at all times. You instructed me the need to run to the finishing line. What else can I ask from a lovely and dearly mother? I am really grateful and happy to be blessed with a precious mother like you.

Thanks, for everything you have done for me, thanks for everything you have said, and for all the times when you said nothing and just listened. If I could be half as good a mother to my children as you are to us, I will have done exceptionally well.

Thank you Mama, I love you, more than words can ever express.
